Pulau Dayang & Pulau Aur Offshore Fishing CR
Posted: Tue Nov 04, 2008 2:31 am
This is my Pulau Dayang CR. A lovely island located near Pulau Aur, a divers paradise. It's one of the furthest island, bout 70km from mainland Malaysia via Mersing, Johor. One can only but wonder if the Aur islands have been reserved specifically for the elite with a lot of money to spend. However, this really shouldn't deter the traveller in a quest for the perfect island to explore, to laze about or to indulge in the culture and hospitality of the local fishermen and their families. Once you're there, you'd know that all that hassle was worth every penny. The relief is that once the weekend crowd has disappeared, you will discover the true beauty of the islands and its waters......
A few of us spent 3days/2nites at Pulau Dayang, one of the very popular dive site among Singaporean......
Upon reaching Mersing(from Port Klang) and after a brief breakfast, we depart from Mersing Jetty to Pulau Dayang at about 9am in the morning......
Pulau Dayang and Pulau Aur has always been a stopover point for fishermen. With a supply of frsh water and plenty of fish in the waters, a few later moved their families to the island.....
One of our deckhand is awaiting our arrival at the Pulau Dayang Jetty.....
If you have the time, you could hop on the weekend dive boats to the islands, stay a week and then hop back onto the next batch of boats heading to the mainland the weekend after......
Some of our 'weapons'......
Once you're there, you'd know that all that hassle was worth every penny. The relief is that once the weekend crowd has disappeared, you will discover the true beauty of the islands and its waters.....
Aur was never the peaceful island as we see now. The deep dark secrets of the wild days are only beginning to unravel within the historic data collected from salvaged treasures hoisted from sunken Chinese junks, sailboats and old merchants ships found shattered in its watery grave.......
They are rumoured to contain treasures and wrecks beyond our imagination. Perhaps they should left in peace in these graves together with their masters from a long forgotten era of great sea voyages.....
On our first day, upon reaching Pulau Dayang, we stop by a few 'unjam' for warm up.....:P
This trip, my 'bangla' aka elec reel not very productive but my custom jigging rod was overwhelm by attacks of Pulau Dayang monsters.....
Banny, my fishing buddy was the first to hook up a fish.....
It was a shark....hahaa........:P
Bout 4-5 kgs i would say.....
Then, Shtan caught the second fish, it was a Kerisi......
Then a grouper.....
Then a Ikan Timah....
Then we called it a day and head back to our chalet at Pulau Dayang......
Took our bath and dinner was ready......
We had sambal fish, asam pedas style....
Steam fish, teochew style.....
And a few more dishes which we wash down with a few cans of beers.....
We saw some notes on our chalet wall, wonder if any of those notes is yours.....
The next morning, at about 6.30am in the morning, we are ready for the battle and head to the jetty where our boat is waiting oredi.....
Manage to do a trademark post before alighting the boat, special to all my fans out there.....hahaa........:P
On this second day, we are heading to one of the furthest 'unjam' where Marlin dances and manta rays do somersault underwater.....:P
Upon reaching the 'unjam', we saw a school of Dorados playing around. No waiting liaw, we cast, we cast and STRIKKKEEEE~!!!!!
Once hooked on, they jump like mad~!!!
The Dorado bull powere and stamina is awesome~!!!
Gaff~!!! Gafff~!!! GaaFFFFFFFF~!!!!!! We shouted at the boatman, hook ups after hook ups till the boatman takbleyyy tahan.....hahaa.......
Finally, landed~!!!
How many dorados we caught that day~??? Donno, we was to busy striking one after another till lost count.....hehee.......:P
I think got bout 50 kua......
All dorado bull sizes bout this.....
The boatman was kind enuff to 'bleed' the dorados for us. Dorados is a good eating fish too.....
The whole day we was fighting dorados till no time to fish other fish, it was fun.....hehee.......
Then we head back to our Chalet at Pulau Dayang and call it a day, pheeewww i must be getting old, back ache man~!!!!:D
On the third day, nothing much happen except for shark frenzy. We caught shark after shark......
