alright, today decided to try fishing at kusu, with 1 grp of ppl (which i didnt meet b4)

when we reach the island, we realise the regular who is suppose to bring us there, didnt turn up
so end up, all of us just walk around aimlessly

and we choose 1 damn "powerful" spot
tide is still rising and the current is damn freaking strong!

we have found ourself a sangkot paradise, sad...
i got a strong take from my rod when it was poke in between the rocks, my rod was been pull downward while i was doing sometink
when i pick up the rod, i feel a strong pull from the other end of the line, strike only, stuck....

end up, after loosing a few sinkers, i decide to stop fishing from there
floater, useless, current too strong and keep swiping ur float to the side

then i saw 2 guys from my grp switch to fishing in lagoon (dun have "no fishing sign")
i ask them any fish, they told me got sua jiam, and alot of them

so i rig up my rod and start to fish in lagoon
indeed, the bite is almost instant and i lost the fish
after about 30mins of fishing there, i got only 2 sua jiam and 1 funny looking fish which i throw back

later about noon, we switch spot
and we found this jetty, not bad
got shelter, and we see little ger jig up plenty of tamban!

ho seh liao, got live bait to use
so a few guys start to jig and i wait to pick durian

cast out a live tamban from cable car and wait
put another live tamban on float, saw a few todak around
but they kill my tamban and spit it out

all in all, cut story short, it is quite a lousy trip
i pack up about 3pm and take a quick nap on the cooling jetty waiting for ferry to come

kusu seem like a better family outing island as compared to st john.
just look at those island pic i took (sorry, no DSLR  )

Hey it's been quite a while since I went to Kusu to have a look. The last time I was there, I saw lots of Terrapins in and around the temple. :) It does seem like a nice place to fish but I agree with you, the place is much more suitable for family outing as the amenities are close by and readily available.

The island is actually quite small, you would need surf tackles to cast out far beyond the reef fringes. If not, you probably have to fish near the channel that is between Kusu and Lazarus Island where the current is usually strong. That's where the jetty you were fishing at right? The strong current and jetty structure attracts those tambans to hang around the area so it must mean lots biggies will be there too. ;)

A good account of your fishing trip although there are no fish pics to show, I am certainly motivated to go there to have a try. ;)

It's being more than 15 yrs since my last visit there.
It was a sight seeing trip during one of those month when there was prayers going on on the island.
The ferry trip was super crowded with long long queues and the island itself was very packed with lots of people.
Yes I do remember there was this big pond with lots of terrapin in it.
Crawling everywhere ~

Kusu island looks so neat and nice now.
Never though of fishing there as the hassle of traveling there alone puts me off.
It looks promising spot for egging.

Nice trip you had though nothing fantastic caught.
You made some new friends.

Thanks for sharing. :)
