Seeing the CR section being a little quiet lately,
I decided to submit a small one on my own :p

My First Pay Pond Trip,

30th March'11

12noon-7pm

Image

Caught the first & fatter one using a circle hook, but it still ended up being gut hooked
The fishes that day must be very hungry!
After my first fish it was pretty quiet throughout the day,
getting a little bored, I made a small hook w/ some extra lines adding bits of prawns
& started illegally fishing for those little baby snappers & Green Chromide hiding among the rocks near the bank
We caught a total of 13 of those little fishes! :fish2: :fish2: :fish2:
As our bait was running low, I try hooking one of those poor fishes as life bait :mischieve:
Sadly it did't fetch me any fishes so i decided to release them back to their rocks
By 6pm our bait was gone :\
So I decided to take our this hard minnow lure i brought the day before for a shot,
as i see i group of people luring nearby & seem like they are getting fish after fishes :\
By my 6th cast, I felt a hard strike!
It was fish on!
When I brought it up, i realize it was another hungry fish!
It attached itself to both hooks on my lure!

It total that day,
My friend & I hooked 4 fishes.
2 Each, But sadly one of his fish manage to unhook itself just as it was being brought up
It was a fun & hot day, I got super dupber chao da but it was a worth while :)

Thanks Melw, that's a well documented CR.

So the saying is right ... fish also won't get into trouble if they don't open their mouth. lol !
A lousy joke but it's real. :p
They always know when to "open their mouth"
When you are busy, not attentive or the best timing ... when you ran out of bait !
the whole family comes a visiting.

It's always good to have a few lures in the bag.
You won't know when you gonna need it and it might just save the day for you.

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more CRs form you. :wine:

Thanks for sharing your catch report. I had the same experience on circle hooks as well, although they're designed to hook on the corner of the fish mouth but I got a few that end up deep down the throat. That's not a bad catch at all and the fish on lure must be exciting huh? ;)

Thank you for the encouraging comments! :o
Yeah! What a timing for them to start feeding, I really thought I was done for the day when i ran out of baits!! But I was wrong!!!!!!
From now onwards I'm going to always carry a lure with me whenever I go fishing! :)
Wasn't expecting for any fish to strike as I was told by the uncles there that I should be using the Storm Rubber lures for the pond
Got to admit, it was pretty exciting when the fish strike my lure
Was so hooked on the feeling that I have decided to buy more lures & try again next week! :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of luring Melw ... WWOL

This bug is extremely deadly ... once bitten ... there is no return !
This is especially true when you got bitten on your first luring trip.
You will never want to do baiting again.
Why dirty your hands when you can catch bigger fishes with fake bait. hehehe :p
Rubber worms is another fun toy you should keep in your bag.
Some times ... fishes do get fussy over what they want to eat.

Good luck for your next trip. :clover:

Thank you! :)
Yeah! I think I have been bitten
Today I drop by the tackle shop to get the rubber lures & gave it a little test
After 3 tries, my friend wanted to have a go at it!
But the lure did't came back :(
The clipped was still closed :\
Are these lures of quite bad quality?

Those Rubber worms you say sounds kinda interesting would give it a shot, the next time i visit the tackle shop :D

While rubbers can be pretty effective in prp, the main reason people recommend them is because of snagging rate and cost issue. The tail often gets snipped off by fish after a few hits though. Did you check that the swivel is properly closed? If it was, the lure really does have quality control issues.

Yeap, the swivel on the end of the leader was closed :(
It was a seahawk ultra soft body lure, i think i would try the storm one the next time round :\
