The Elusive Mangrove Jack...

Post by Darth Salacious »

Finally. After countless hours spent at TJPP and catching nothing but Kims, an elusive Chia Zhor decided to come out from the depths and swallow a live prawn whole. The angler who brought this up was Anna with her new Taurus Rod, with the MJ giving a good fight before finally succumbing to fatigue. :lol: :thumbsup:

Nice, so there are indeed mangrove jacks in there afterall. :yay: They supposedly have stronger takes and are more aggressive than the kbls, giving better overall fight. Congrats to Anna. Those are good size kbls too, nice work. How's the overall catch rate throughout the pond?

I regard mangrove jacks personally as one of the best pond fishes around. They give a terrific fight and their initial take is nothing short of ferocious; I remember distinctly the vicious bend in my rod when a 2kg MJ whacked my live prawn at PRP! Their meat quality doesnt fall too far short of KBLs either; i'd personally rate it as more than palatable. So nice one, bro.

We spent about 4 hours doing night fishing at the pond bro.
I'm not sure if the MJs there only feed at night.

Thanks for the encouragement. :lol::thumbsup:

I've asked the management about the fishes in the pond. It seems that they only have Kims, MJs and Taiwan Ngors in the pond.
