hello i have some experince jetty fishing..ill help :o
okay first with the types of rods used...
1 tamaban rod(short but not too short rod around the 10-$20 type)
2 the biggie rod(those big surf/bait caster rods in tackle shops)
3 the all rounder (those good 40-60 dollar rods with good power which also includes telescopics)

reels: 2500 for 1-4kg fish,3000 for 2-10,4000 for 3-12kg
please help if im wrong
best baits:prawns(dead) will give you scavengers(duri/catfish,chermins(must be lucky)stingray, flathead, snapper and many more species.
cut prawns on small sakibi jigs will give you peh tor or rabbitfish,tigerperch,selar,ponyfish/kekek and many small bait/pest fish
tambans: queenfish, chermin, barracuda, wolf herring and other big fishes
sarong worms: chao xi and worm eating fishes.

(based on tired bait and equipment at the Bedok Jetty)

Done for now..... :mischieve: :mischieve:

and be carefull of hazards....

That's a pretty good summary of how people fish at BJT. Not many people like to use artificial lures on the jetty because of the height thought, especially those crankbaits. Jigs are still possible but with limited effectiveness. For tamban fishing, you probably have seen people using pole rods too. There are also people using boat rods for baiting as well. And don't forget handlines!

hey i was wondering about surf fishing, From what i see people usually use a wire leader attach to the hook, but i just use a normal 60lb mono, would it work too?
What will be the different?

It can work, but it also depends on what type of fish you're expecting. Wire leader is meant for very toothy fishes like barracudas or mackerels. Wires are more abrasion resistant but it's very visible.

Not quite but there are useful information there for sure. I have a semi draft on the introduction to different forms of fishing that was left abandoned somewhere in my folder. :x I can add on your information to those. Thanks for the contribution limfish. :)
