I've seen people caught sizeable GTs and Chermins at Bedok Jetty. Just wondering what baits are they using or are there any fishing techniques(floats etc.)

I believe it's more to knowing where to cast and when to fish. If you're specifically targeting for chermins and golden trevally, then live prawns is a good choice of bait to use. And yes, golden trevally is a less fussy fish that'll take most baits including tambans or even pieces of dead prawns.

As for spots, I would fish along the first bus stop shelter. :)

I agree with Peace using liveprawns best for GTs and Chermins, however
notice I saw anglers using live/dead tamban also got GT aswell also dead prawn meat also managed to get chermins.
I like to add conditions for striking chermins in addition to live prawns best
water must be quite clean and also not too fast. I also notice around
May plenty of guys using live prawns managed to strike it very often.
Such condition also can see the availability of baby tenggiri around.
For live tambans will be effective to get the tenggiri with float and
long leader, similar to the rig for parang.

Hi i think its is better to fish at the third or second shelter because most people got chermins there if you are targetting them but for targetting other species like gt and stingray the end would be the place for them but becarefull when at the left side of the t section many people lose their fish especially stingray . there was a time when the fish was already abt 5 to 10 metre to the jetty then break line i also fish there and one more tip to add use alittle bit of wire line to prevent fishes such as todak , stingray or queenie from cutting the line

Just my 2 cts opinion

That's a good tip Bigbait and welcome to HLF. :flower: I've heard about a small drop off somewhere along the mid jetty distance facing in the direction of sentosa. It's supposedly a good spot, anyone heard of it before? :shh:

Actually, fishing at the jetty depends on the tides :D
At low tide, expect catfish, puffers and other non-pelagic species(pelagics will still be there, but not in great numbers) to roam due to the slower currents.
At high tide, expect pelgaics like queeinies, chermins,Basset hull travallies, batang, barracuda, selars, kuning and most common:tamban.
Other fishes are:jebura terapons,Rabbit fishes, warrse, eels, groupers, snappers, stingrays and that rare shark. :p
This is a rough summary and not to represent the whole of BJT.

Mabye a 16Lbs rod with a 2500 or 3000 reel for the pelagics.
Or 4000 reel plus pe 1-2 or 1-3 for medium
Lastly,4500-5000 for fishing the larger ones(pe 2-5 rod)
For begginer gear, i guess the first option would do.
