Woodland jetty fishing

Post by maddic1102 »

newbie here , looking to try out some new fishing spots :)

saw this blog , http://woodland-jetty.blogspot.sg/
seems like they are doing very well with live tambans + float.

intending to go there this weekend with a
1/0 hook (2 feet length) + float ( i think hook the live tamban around the area just below its top fin)
sabiki jig (catch tambans there to put on the float)

probly go there around 6-7pm
cos it seems like thats the feeding hour for tambans @ BJT , hopefully its the same @ woodland jetty

any idea if this would work ? , need some suggestions :)
and are any other setups that work well @ woodland jetty

Hi maddic1102, welcome to HLF. Yes, that's an effective way to fish there right now. The two common fish that will take the assams or tambans will be barracuda or barramundi. You can use float or cable car rig. You can try bottom with apollo/lsbf with prawn meat, but from what I've seen there doesn't seem to be very good catch except marine catfish, croakers and perhaps stingray. You can see from some youtube videos that they also land big mullets there too. :)

Hi I wanted to go there today but the weather do not look very good for fishing. If you are using live bait you may need to consider bigger hook size even up to size 8/0 as the assam can get quite big. Also get sabiki jig of around size 10 to foul hook the assam fish. As usually when there is assam fish, there would not be much tamban around and vice verse.

day fishing: bait, using what's available would probably be most effective with cable car rig. evidently at the bedok jetty. you might want to try cable car rig at the woodlands jetty too?

personally i experienced better chances with the bait tamban, herrings and live or at least fresh.
