This test wasn't intentional nor exactly fair but I happen to come across a pair of peacock bass resting in shallow waters in the hot afternoon. I didn't think they would be interested in my lures but I tried what I had with me; a stickbait, spinnerbait, popper and jerkbait. Guess which one provoked the bass most?
(You can't see the bass in water from the video due to overexposure, but they're just below the floating branch.)

Nice work!
Im guessing the 2 are protecting their nest?
You've probably agitated them but seriously, i do think that jerkbaits entice fishes better.
but its those explosive surface takes from surface lures that sets you off and makes ur head go BOOM. right?

Hmm, that might have been possible. Jerkbaits I've tried works significantly better than other types of lures I've tried on Peacock bass but as you've said surface hits give you more thrill. I usually go for topwater lures first before resorting to use a jerkbait, it's almost like cheating.
