Do u mean going out 2 the middle of the sea and put crabbing nets???
I think it is illegal 2 do that last time i go bjt fishing saw one malay use the surfing board then paddle out 2 the sea and put crabbing nets.

Technically, those crab traps are form of netting therefore not allowed but I don't think anyone will stop you from using it. Unless you're talking about those castable line traps that crabs get entangled by. The bigger concern are those long nets and may be cast nets that causes inconvience and safety of other jetty and beach users.

Around 2 months ago I did saw a huge crab (around 1/2 kg) caught using a crab net at Bedok Jetty (est. 50m from shore). It is one of those rectangular box net with entry from both side and split open from the middle. Quite tempted to try it myself.
