I did once kept a flower crab as pet !
Caught it at Punggol and took it home to rear.
I used to have a 3ft marine tank ...
But it didn't behave and ate my fishes !
Transferred it below in the filtration tank living solo.
One of it's "hand" totally dropped off due to negligence of us ...
I was kinda sad ...
And that was how I found out too ...
The lost arm will grow back one !
Everyday I look at the one arm crab growing bigger and bigger ...
But one morning when I look at it ... it miraculously had two arms waving at me !
Exactly the same size ... happened over night just like that. lol !
This interesting pet of mine was transferred back home safely after it had his arm grown back. :D

All crabs can grow back their claw back, they often lose it to fighting for mates, defending territory or to escape predators. I've tried thunder crab claw once, it tastes okay.

According to a friend of mine ... it's tasty.
He will break off one big arm and release the crab back.
Cook it on the spot.
Never had the guts to try ... lol !

There's no way you can break off an arm without looking cruel, it is part of the crab afterall. Just break it and avoid getting snipped by it. And there's the always the argument how much pain they actually feel, if any.

hello bros! i have gone crabbing with my dad at sembawang jetty for about 3 times already.. damn fun to see the crabs land on the trap la. but so far all the flower crabs there are really small. anyone knows of a better place with bigger and more edible flower crabs? :)

Hi law, welcome to HLF. :) The crabs caught at Sembawang is often small because traps are laid there daily, it's still pretty amazing that they're still in such high numbers despite the small size. For bigger crabs, you might probably want to check out the east side like Punggol end, Changi Kelong Walk or beach or even Ubin.

Thanks Peace! we went to sembawang jetty cos we saw quite a few people there crabbing. punggol would be fantastic since i stay in hougang personally. but which part of punggol ah? the jetty? the last time i was there, there was quite a bit of construction and all!
