Wanted to go boat fishing at Changi, but dunno which boatman is the most reliable. Any recommendations?

Can't vouch for reliabilty but I believe the more popular boatman around Changi waters are Ah Chong and Ah Fong. dBs has been to numerous trips on Ah Fong's boat, you can check on her past fishing reports.

Here are some of the recent trips:

Reliable ... ?

I don't believe in reliable ...
I believe in experience !

Most of the boatmen in Changi are experience boatmen who have being fishing in that part of Singapore for many years.
They know that place inside out ...
Offshore fishing is after all fishing in the OPEN sea ...
How to guarantee you fish ?
If you were to ask that question to the boatman ...
They will tell you to go market and buy ... cheaper and confirm have fish :p

Uncle Fong charges $350 per trip excluding baits and ice.
Uncle Chong, Uncle Long, Ah Chai, Ah Soon etc etc charges differently ...
But all have their own spots and "ättitude".
All are very experience guy out in the sea ...

Most important ... get some nice friendly kakis and go out and enjoy the enchanted changi waters for a day ~ :D

Hmm true enough :). But that's the point, each has their 'own' fishing spots.
And there might be some secret spots that some are unwilling to reveal right?
Because I went a few times last year and the catches were really bad :(.
I will not name who, but the boatman just anchored his boat besides breakwaters and was unwilling to change spots even when there's no fish.
Yep, I went not only to fish but also to enjoy the sights and have fun with the fishing kakis,
but sometimes, it's just disappointing to go home empty-handed :(

Im just looking for a consistent boatman :D

Many of the Changi boatman park near breakwaters are waiting to chance upon chermin schools passing by. Smarter boatman will know when and how long to wait while those not too sure will just try their luck there. Sometimes, boatman will go to spots like breakwater to avoid harsh current along channels or bad weather conditions. Or, it can also be he's 'killing' time till the time is right to go for a particular spot. Of course, it can also mean that he's lazy and just waiting to go home.

i went changi yacht club there last sat.
the boatman name was Ben. (i donno if he's the one u are referring to)
young fellow (30 odd) with quite good experience.
he taught us alot of stuff cos we're quite inexperienced.
he saw our setups, and was kinda disappointed. then he set up 2 rods of his own, and cast out...if got any bite, he'll let us fight the fish. yeah.....so he was quite nice
for him, he'll ask what type of fish we wanna catch, big or small.....and the exact type of fish.
and if wanna move off to another place, he'll gladly move. in total duration of 10 hours, we went to about 8-9 different spots.
spent about 30mins max at a spot if got no bites.

if u want his contact, u can pm me, i can get for u =)
