I had went boat fishing around southern island 2x in the last 10days and both time we only caught 2 fishes. Both time 1grouper & 1parrot.
Do anyone know what the best season/months to fish at this area?

Hi Raymond, you don't particularly have to wait for seasons to do offshore fishing, it is possible to get reasonable amount of fishes anytime of the year. I've heard from a boatman September onwards is a good time for Ang Zhor though.

Anyway, if you're getting consistent poor catch it is most likely due to other possible reasons. Is your offshore trip on a chartered boat? If it is, you can directly ask the boatman why the fishes aren't biting. If the boatman doesn't get fish himself after two trips, you should consider trying out another boatman.

Always try out the rigs and bait recommended by the boatman first because they know what works in their fishing spots. If possible, ask the boatman to choose a favourable day to fish in.

And there's always the factor with luck, getting poor catch over two trips isn't that uncommon. But don't give up, experiment with new changes and you may find improvement in your catch.

Although I've only been Offshore to the West once (but many times the East area) - I believe that there isn't any season for this <--- like Peace mentioned.

But I must admit that the currents are stronger in the West waters.

Therefore like everyone would put it ... 'You either get big fish or no fish when the currents are strong.'

I went with my friends which is the boatman regular. So the boatman should be good. Meet Ah Chong boat when we were fishing. I will continue to try harder .
