Hi,
Is this the same Painted Scorpionfish?
I caught the above fish at Bedok Jetty using handline with prawn meat. A family who was fishing near me told me that it was a Groupa, but later when I searched on HLF the nearest match was Painted Scorpionfish.

The fish looks dangerous, but not poisonous as such. I have seen a video of cooking competition between a Japanese and Chinese chef and both cooked the fish in soup, salad, fried fillet, even fried a whole baby fish. However, the pointy venomous thorns on the fish near it's mouth can cause a lot of pain if u get stung by them...

I think imageshack is current having problems with their image hosting, I can't seem to view all their images. Is it possible to host the images on another image host? Scorpionfishes are venomous, their sting can cause intense pain so you want to be extra careful when handling them. They're also edible.
The images were working when I posted them. Since, I'm using my phone Internet, I cannot re-upload now. Instead, I have emailed the images to fishspecies... email address.

Hmm, that's weird. I can't seem to view the images embeded in your post. Anyway, I saw the pictures you've sent to me and it is indeed painted scorpionfish. Notice they have visible spikes on its head, so that's a very good warning sign to keep away from it.
Thanks for your other pictures as well, I will post them in the relevant threads. The cichlid you sent to me isn't a tilapia, looks more like a flowerhorn cichlid a.k.a luohan.
Alternate link to the scorpionfish pics if anyone else who can't see it.
That's a waspfish, possibly a long-spined waspfish. Notice how its dorsal fins are way up front compared to a scorpionfish. Do you mind if I add this picture to HLF's library as well?
