Hi agitato, welcome to HLF and thanks for the photo contribution.
These mullets are particularly interesting, I had ever caught them using small shrimps as opposed to the more commonly used bread.

Hi Peace,
What happened was, I had a tub of bread mixed with banana. I was sitting quite close to the water and a sudden wave splashed up and I dropped the tub.
Subsequently, the contents were floating outwards and in came a couple of these guys, ranging from 3 to 6 inchers grabbing the bread.
I got hold of a tamban jig, laced it with bits of dead prawn and I started jigging around the area. Plucked out two within a few minutes. One 6 inch and another abt 5 inch.

Ah, so you unintentionally berly attracted the attention of the mullets, they usually let their guard down when they're invoked into a feeding frenzy. Good catch there.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure about this particular species, but I've seen mullets 1-2kg swimming in a school. I reckon they're even more smart and cautious when approaching line and hooks.
