They don't take conventional organic baits we use for fishing, although I've seen people catching them on those small shrimps (hae beo). Then again they might have been attracted the to shine in the hooks alone to bite. But typically, tambans can be easily caught using feathered tamban jigs you see in tackle shops. Of course they need to be in the feeding mood for it to actually work.

Among herrings, they're mostly the same but it usually comes down to what we can find, and ability to use them alive.
