Line: use at least 30lb flourocarbon as their sandpaper like teeth would cut through mono

Yes, they have sandpaper-like teeth that can cut through lines. Despite people recommending the best baits for threadfins such as wolf herring and beltfish meat,(as well as those you mentioned) I've heard anglers catching relatively big threadfins with just small pieces of prawn meat. It seems that isn't too fussy with its choice of food.
