Yes, they're slightly translucent when alive and turns white on death. It's a high quality fish on my list, I love these fish. It's a pity they don't come as often as tambans.

Any tips on rigging them as bait? Theyre so rare I feel bad throwing one in as bait and having it torn off so easily
Once I was drifting one on a small hook (too scared to cast) and the entire back portion got chomped off... Think it was a pelagic like todak, it was quite a clean bite, not bits and pieces here and there like the marks of baitstealers

Yes, they'll drop off your hook fairly easy. You either hook them across its eye socket or from under its jaw. Not a good idea to cast hard with these bait. You should slack the line so the fish will take in the entire bait readily.
