That looks like a Small spotted dart, do you have another picture of this fish at a better angle from top down?

Sorry for the poor quality of the initial photo, it was taken at night.
It certainly looks like a small spotted darter, it has 2 distinctive spots on the body.

Yeah, it does look like it. I would love to use the live photo but the angle is a little off. Nice catch on this uncommon fish!

Looks interesting indeed, it's probably different from the usual black damselfish we catch. I will look try to look that up.

That's a beauty, I remember someone caught this fish at BJT and posted on fishingkaki years back. Do you mind if I use your picture for HLF library?
Good catch!

I've got a nice one.
It appears to be a Fanged Blenny, but i can't identify the exact species.

I've seen one of this caught by an angler at Labrador Jetty years back. It should be a Threadless blenny but I am not entirely sure. You want to be careful when handling them as they are venomous.

It is also possible that it's a Variable fang blenny, a more commonly documented species locally. Its colour (or the dark stripe) may vary depending on environment I guess.

I saw an nice old chap land this at BJT earlier in 2018 too. Wanted to ask him what bait/setup he was using but forgot.. Mind sharing what you used? Would like to try landing a beauty like this, but all I can seem to catch with prawn and squid meat are wrasses hahahah

Your rig and bait is probably correct, it's just not as common as you may expect it to be. Apollo small hooks with prawn meat usually nails it.
