I've been stung by rabbitfish a few times, and it felt like throbbing sharp pain at the punctured area. The pain is quite bearable but I guess it can differ from people to people. I haven't got a chance to get stung by a catfish yet though. :sweatdrop:

I believe it still can, cut the spines away with a pair of strong scissors for safe handling of the dead fish. :)
