lol the first time i caught 1 of these were a pain in the a$$. it coils around ur leader, creating mucous and slime and always swallows the hook even if its a circle hook. most irritating fish EVAR :rant:

Yes, it can be quite a nightmare trying to remove a hook swallowed by this moray. The more it gets agitated, the more it coils up around your line. :mad: Putting it on the ground helps as opposed to lifting it by your line. Either way, your rig is screwed after the messy ordeal. :lol:

normally when i catch this i just cut my line and release it. i had to redo my rig all over agian :mad:

It's called 'Knotty eel' in Hokkien for a reason. I believe all anglers dread having to undo the mess it brings upon when one is landed.

Groupers aren't fussy eaters to begin with. I guess you can use that but I believe it will severely limit the species of fish you're going to catch. If you've run out of bait and that's the only thing you have, sure, why not?
