Mealworm a good livebait substitute??

Post by afternoonfish »

Not using livebait in reservoirs, but just like to know if mealworms can be a good bait for freshwater fishing ( although it dies quickly)..

Anybody tried this as bait before?

I'm pretty sure fishes do eat them. Many freshwater fishes will feed on food that comes from land, that includes insects and worms. But it would be interesting to find out if mealworms are more effective than earthworms for certain species of fish.
