Re: [Freshwater] Giant Snakehead
Practically all local reservoirs have them, they can grow and breed fast but they face competition for food and territory with the increasing numbers of peacock basses.

I don't think I've heard tomans making a popping sound aside from striking something on the water surface. Many fishes can croak but popping...?

I caught a baby Giant Snakehead once at bukit batok nature park. Didnt know it was giant snakehead baby at that time. When I brought it home, it ate nearly all the fishes in my aquarium I put it in another tank and when it grew black, i released it.

Re: [Freshwater] Giant Snakehead
i believe it was made because of the snakehead shutting its mouth. the bones around the mouth are quite hard so when they close their mouth hard that popping sound is heardweaver wrote:hahaaa i think like poptiger said they make weird noises when they come out the water.. i m not sure either

I think Bottletree has some Tomans. I saw some people caught 1 or 2 and some patin. Bottletree also has Pacu and Redtail catfish to be caught on rod+reel ( Release only )

I'd say they're most active during dawn and evening.

Our reservoirs, but many of them are overfished at the designated fishing areas or they are hiding in the deeper parts of the reservoirs. Watch out for its juvenile balls near water surface, they will attack your lures.
There's usually a big one guarding them but won't attack your bait unless provoked. My favourite spot for toman is Kranji Reservoir.

Re: [Freshwater] Giant Snakehead
Marina reservoir is converted from from a saltwater river but its current uprivers are connected to upper and lower pierce reservoir. So yes, there certainly can be tomans in there but I doubt it is a good place to catch them. Without much hiding spots and the presence of peacock bass there, the survival rate of its young will be lower.
