Price difference should be between 10-20 dollars. Salty chief would be a stiffer rod than the fighter and can handle slightly heavier lure weight. Some find it too stiff and prefers the fighter instead. Another aspect is the rod guides, salty fighter use a certain korean SiC rings while salty chief uses FUJI Alconite. SiC is typically harder than alconite but both are more than sufficient for braided line use.

i have owned both rods, and find both of them excellent for pond fishing and value for money :p

currently using a nasci C3000, or maybe going to pair with an elf 4000 but getting it serviced first....

I using the Salty Chief 10-20lbs with a Elf 3000, not bad... try it at the FW CNR pond.. personally it's a good rod for local pond and local offshore...but perhaps it's abit too stiff to enjoy the fight. Overall a value for money rod.
