Thought I'd share my process of making it
Got this aluminum hangers from a Home Depot shop. Each rod has 2 blunt hooks, one small one large. Bought a total of 3. The one on the left already has had some sharpening done.
Workbench clamp + metal file! Each hanger took about 45 minutes to be fully sharpened.
3 rods finally sharpened!
Hammered the smaller blunt hooks on the top, added some cable ties. Tied a swivel to attach weight!
Final product!
Old floats to cover sharp hooks
Saved myself some bucks and quite satisfying to make your own equipment!

Re: Homemade fishing gaff
That's pretty innovative work there, and that's a lot of patience you have to file those hangers. I hope you get to try it soon, good luck!
