Kok Kee Wanton Noodle
Lavender Food Square #01-06
380 Jalan Besar
Operating hours : 12pm to 2am

Wanton Mee - the most common local food, you can find almost at most kopi tiam or food court,
even in hotel and restaurants.

A Cantonese noodle dish usually served in hot soup, garnished with leafy vegetables, and wonton.

My favorite wanton noodle is at Lavender Food Center.

If you have eaten at Lavender Food Centre before, you would have noticed that
theres always a long queue in front of Kok Kee Wanton Noodle.
During my first visit there ... I seriously was very curious how the plain simple looking wanton noodles
have so many followers. You have to give it a try to know why it is this popular.

A plate of Kok Kee wanton mee sells at $3.50 and a bigger portion goes at $4.50.
It is well known for it's small serving of noodles thus even a lady can easily finish 2 plates of the noodles.

The delicious noodles are rich in egg fragrance and splendidly springy.
The magic of Kok Kee wanton mee lies in the special gravy which is poured onto the noodles.
The sauce is extraordinarily flavorful and complements the noodles really well.
You can eat the noodle without chilli and it taste as good.
The char siew and dumplings are also tasty.
You get a free bowl of soup if you choose to eat the dry version.

I have taken some of my friends here to try it on several occasion ...
It's either you like it or hate it kinda feedback.
But there's one thing which everyone agreed ...
The gravy which was poured into the noodles before serving it is simply delicious.

The owner of Kok Kee wanton mee are Cantonese ...does that gives them an advantage
in dishing up the best wanton noodle in town ?

Wow, that's a pretty steep price for wanton mee at food court with that size of portion. But I think the queue speaks for itself, he wouldn't dare to charge that high if it isn't first class wanton mee. ;) It doesn't look any different from any other wanton mee from the looks of it, but like you said, the secret is in the gravy. I guess only those who tried it will know it is more than meets the eye!

Koung's Wan Tan Mee
龚氏云吞面
1 Lor 13 Geylang Singapore 388639

Both me and simon like to eat wanton mee ...
We tried out this Koung's wanton mee together with Raspiritz.

I was full of expectation on our way there ...
Was full of disappointment after tucking in the first bite of the yellow noodles.
It was not as good as I have heard ....
Noodle was in good portion ... char siew was so so ...
The wanton is as normal as the char siew .

We ordered some side dishes as well ...
The prawn's dumbling soup was slightly better than the wanton.
But Simon complained that the prawn used was not fresh.
The "yu shang" was a mistake ... don't taste good at all.
The only dish - The Oyster sauce kai-lan , which three of us unanimously agreed it was nice

The stall has a steady stream of customers ... probably it's a Saturday.
Food served shortly after you place your order with the aunty at the counter.

My verdict : Will not purposely drive there just to eat the wanton mee AGAIN.
If around the area ... don't mind eating.
It taste like any other wanton noodle in any kopi tiam lorr.

Hock Kee Food Stall
Blk 226H Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, Street 22
Kebun Bahru Food Centre, # 01-05
Singapore 560226

Operating Hours : 6am to 2pm daily ( No exact Off Days )

Ang Mo Kio ( AMK ) is a heartland new town located in central Singapore.
It has a town centre and six neighbourhoods ... containing many of the common features of the island nation's neighbourhoods,
e.g. hawker centres, wet markets and HDB housing blocks.

This wanton noodle stall located in one of the neighbourhood's food center,
run by an endearing couple ... you'll be surprise not to see a long Q infront of the stall.
There is always a long Q especially on a weekend like Sat and Sundays.
Be prepared to Q up.

It's hard not to like the noodles served by them.
One of our favorite wanton noodle stall.

The wanton mee comes covered in a generous heap of sliced char siew and leafy chai sim.
The noodle in generous serving size cooked to a QQ texture with savory sauce.
Not forgetting the delicious wantons in a bowl of tasty anchovies soup.
I like the fresh prawn dumbling ( 鲜虾水蛟 ), taste as good as the wanton.

This wanton noodle is so much tastier than some of the famous wanton mee around town. ;)

Did you just go stricter with your food ratings? Those wanton mee don't look that bad but I think you really have to eat it to know it. Maybe they aren't conscientious in preparing the dish when business gets too hot.

Kok Kee Wanton Noodle
Blk 505 JURONG WEST
WET MARKET & FOOD CENTRE

If you are a fan of the famous Kok Kee wonton noodles at Lavender Food Centre ...
I am sure you will like this one at Jurong West ...

Just so happens to be passing by the place and spotted this familiar signage ...
Being wonton noodles craze ... we just have to give it a try to see if they are as good as the one at Lavender Food Centre.

I believe this one is run by the son or it's close relative ...
Try it to believe it ...
The taste is "almost" the same ...
the same chillie sauce ... the taste of the yummlicious wontons and the secret recipe sauce poured over the noodles upon serving.
The only difference is the sauce here is not so sweet as compared with the one in Lavender Food Centre.
The wontons are served together with the soup instead of with the noodles ( dry version )
They maintain the standard of the noodles and what more pleasing is ...
the serving is definitely more so don't go for the large serving unless you are a big eater.
What I like is ... you do not have to queue like what you have to at Lavender Food Centre
before you can tuck into a plate of yummy kok kee's wonton noodles.

This Jurong Centre looks newly renovated ... environment is clean and pleasant ...

So if you are staying at the other end of the island ... there is one kok kee near you ... ;)
