Re: Brownbanded Bambooshark

They're bottom feeders and they're more active in the night. Bedok Jetty is a good place to catch them.

If it's main line, sure. Leaders should be heavier.

Re: Hound Needlefish

You have to remove the hook first but a common problem is that they're often gut hooked if landed. Prioritize your own safety over dislodging the hook, just cut the line if you're not confident in doing so and release it back. Cuts from their razor sharp teeth is pretty nasty.

Re: [Freshwater] Walking Catfish

I've personally never seen anyone catch one in our reservoirs before but I believe there are. The fact that we are limited to the use of artificial lures in reservoirs is one of the main reason we don't often see it anglers landing them.

Re: [Freshwater] Giant Snakehead

The popular way to fish for a toman is using live catfish, secured with two hooks on its back and attached to a float. Then you just observe the float as the catfish slowly swims about. When a toman takes the catfish, the float will move faster in one direction. As the catfish used is typically larg...

I'm not quite sure myself but it does have the profile of a jaguar cichlid. Nice catch there!

Re: [Freshwater] Giant Snakehead

Marina reservoir is converted from from a saltwater river but its current uprivers are connected to upper and lower pierce reservoir. So yes, there certainly can be tomans in there but I doubt it is a good place to catch them. Without much hiding spots and the presence of peacock bass there, the sur...

Re: [Freshwater] Giant Snakehead

Our reservoirs, but many of them are overfished at the designated fishing areas or they are hiding in the deeper parts of the reservoirs. Watch out for its juvenile balls near water surface, they will attack your lures. There's usually a big one guarding them but won't attack your bait unless provok...

From my experience live frogs work wonders. Earthworms, shrimps, small fishes also works. It's always a plus if your bait moves.
