Acacia ~ Restaurant In The Park

Post by dBs™ »

Edit: Acacia has ceased it's operation at the stated address.

The unit has been taken over, renovation on-going.
Will do a review when the new restaurant opens it's door to welcome park uses of the yet to be completed Bishan Park.

ACACIA
Restaurant In The Park
1380 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1
Bishan Park 2
Singapore 560000

Tel: 6452 4520

Operating Hours :
Mon: 5pm - 11pm
Tue to Fri: 11am - 11pm
Sat to Sun: 8:30am - 11pm

A dog friendly restaurant !

Located strategically in Bishan Park two ...
If you don't like doggy ... here's a place you will want to avoid.
Chances are you will be greeted with tail wagging pooch as the dog run area is just a stone's throw away from the restaurant.

There is an out door sitting area for customers who bring their doggy along.
Else .. you may want to sit in the in door area.

This restaurant serves up good Western and local flavours .
Tried their spaghetti with Mussels in garlic ..it was simply dBilicious !
Having tried their breakfast and dinner ...

We went there for lunch this time.
Ordered an egg omelet with chai poh ... I love this dish so much.
Served in their unique porcelain plate ... the omelet gave off a nice fragrance upon serving.
The chai poh was not overly salty and has this teeny wee bit of sweetness. Yum !

The spinach soup was not too bad too.
Spinach was not too soft ... cooked with silver fish and wolf berries.

Fresh sotong was used for the sotong with sambal.
Tasted really nice, not too spicy to taste.

The mago chicken was a little disappointed though.
They "decorated" it with pineapple instead.
Mango sauce was light to taste thus the freshly cut pineapple was too strong.
Tasted more like pineapple chicken.
But ... the chicken was crisy on the outside, tender on the inside ... yummy !

Can't remember the actual bill of the meal ...
Would say it's pretty reasonable.
It's a restaurant after all.

Do give this restaurant a try if you have a dog in toll and couldn't find a place to eat.
They have breakfast, lunch and dinner ...all dogs welcome.
Dog will be served drinks ... plain water lah !

Noodle dishes cost about $8+ each ...
I tried out their seafood mee suah.
Noodles texture was good ... chewy and not too soggy.
Ingredients used was fresh, the prawns was sweet and sotong does not have a fishy smell.
Worth giving it a try.

If you are there for a cup of afternoon tea ... they have an assorted range of teas in it's menu.
I love mine with a tinge of Peachy flavour ... but it's lipton de hor. Tea bag type.
A variety of cakes to go along if you want something to munch munch ...
The blueberry cheese cake is a nice choice ... come served in a big porcelain plate, nicely garnish. :D

Restaurant in the park ... a place with good food and friendly waitress

Orange Duck ... this dish had my attention on my first visit to the restaurant.
But it is only till now that we gave it a try.

Had always wanted to try it but somehow the mood was not right for this orange and duck combo.

Finally got the mood last week after a swim at East Coast.
We were there for afternoon tea but wanted something special ...
So we had Orange Duck !

Never try never know ...
The presentation ain't to my lickings ...
such a rich dish will look more appetizing if it were to be served on a plain white plate.

It was a nice duck drum ... seated on a pile of mashed potatoes covered with orangy sauce
garnished with some prickle and carrot cubes..
The sauce ain't to my likings too ... it's too gooey to begin with and tasted kinda sour.
The duck meat was soft ... lightly pressed and it fray up in stripes.

Given the price ... $22+
I guess this will be my first and last time trying the Orange Ducky out.

Heading to Acacia ~ Restaurant in the park for a cup of tea, 2-3 times a week.
It's a place we can have a cup of tea with Scotty by our side.

Had dinner there with family and friends on many occasion by now ...
We have tried most of the dishes on it's menu.
A choice of Western as well as local dishes like pork legs meehoon are just some must try.

We tried it's fried pork with Chinese fermented sweet bean-curd on the waitress recommendation.
It can be eaten with rice or just as a finger food.
Fried to a crispy brown, it is chewy and very crispy to bite with a light fragrance of fermented beacurd, nam yu ~

Definitely worth giving this dish a try.

Fried Chicken Wings ~ yummy !
4 yummy wings served pipping hot ~
Seasoning was just right ... not too salty with a light tinge of sweetness as you bite onto the wings ...
The bits of juice oozing out ... yum !

Sometimes, we order just this wings as finger food over tea. ::x:

This is the best lamb chops that I've had.
The meat was tender and juicy with just the right amount of fats.
Served with Rosemary sauce poured over mashed potatoes.

Superb culinary skills of the chef ~

Yes, you didn't see wrong ...
This is a plate of friend bee hoon with Canned Pig Trotters !
With just the right amount of bee hoon, it had absorbed all flavors from the pig trotters.
Tasted deliciously moist with generous helpings of greens and egg.
Yum yum ... never knew canned food can dish up such delicious meal ... lol ! :p

Nothing to brag about this bowl of fish slice bee hoon.
It is not even in the restaurant's menu.
What so special is their extra effort to meet customer's special needs.

Feeling a little unwell ... I requested if the chef was able to make me a simple bowl of soup noodle.
And my request was quickly conveyed and a bowl of pipping hot bee hoon served soon after.

Thumb up for their service.
