I don't think there are any left. Those Giant Freshwater Prawns you catch at payponds require streams that lead to the sea in order to breed, and the ones we have left are concrete monsoon canals or canals that are too polluted. I had caught wild ones locally before but it was a long time ago.

From what I've seen, people will use a short piece of line tied to a stick on one end and a piece of bait on the other to lure the crayfish out of its hiding place and then scooping them with a net.

yup that is for resvervoir because it is clear for punngol park you need a rod, line, prawn float, small hook and bait is bread or live fish(which is better)Peace wrote:From what I've seen, people will use a short piece of line tied to a stick on one end and a piece of bait on the other to lure the crayfish out of its hiding place and then scooping them with a net.

There are some sea prawns at the wooden jetty at Lim Chu Kang where I go net casting. They look like the belachan prawns they put in chilli. Maybe you can try your luck there.

If I recall correctly, the jetty is now gated and sometimes locked. Do the fish farm workers or owners mind people going in the jetty to see or fish?

The mud flats outside Kranji and Lower Seletar dam is a potential spot, but take note that it can be very dangerous when they release they open the floodgate. You have to be aware of the surrounding should you go there and stick to areas where you can retreat easily.
