*These catfish used to be extremely common in canals with soil banks and but as more concrete and monsoon canals replacing them, you'll find them a little harder to come by. Rivers like Ulu Pandan canal for example is a good place to fish for them, basically, any bottom rig will do. Prawn meat is a feasible and convenient bait for them but earthworms will work better.

*Yes, apollo rig can be used. The tricky thing is to gauge the direction which they dive back down. Catfishes likes to hide among debris or leaves on the bottom of the river. At times, they may come near to the bank and even burrow holes which you can evidently see from the murky water around the area.

*Yes, that's basically the plan, you don't need to cast exactly infront of the catfish as they can sense the bait from a distance. :)

*Well that doesn't mean it isn't working, just that you didn't realize that the bait is gone or have not checked your bait regularly enough. The bait could have been nibbled off by smaller fishes such as gobies, barbs or cichlids and when a catfish do actually come by there would have been nothing left for it.

*If the water is rather still, maybe you can berly some bait around the area you cast or use chumming since catfish has good sense of smell.

Sausages can be used as well. Kng is also very effective. Rather common fish at BTP.

Yes on bread and they do feed to small fishes if they can catch it, a lure will work in that sense. But they aren't too keen on chasing fast swimming prey so it has to come real close to them to trigger a bite.

The forum avatars are just thumbnails from HLf fish library and that's over 200 avatars. It's good to recycle materials to save some webspace, it also gives the forum a standardized and neat look. If I let members use their own avatars, I would need to screen them to ensure no offensive materials are uploaded. Looking at HLF website, you know how lazy I am. :p

They can be found in most freshwater spots. It's easier to find them in streams but I don't think many streams in Singapore are legal to fish in.
