I prefer catching them from a boat, it's easier and less likely to get your rig snag compared to shore. Shore wise, I'm more of a jetty person so that's where I usually fish on shore. Other than that, I think St John's Island is a great place to fish for groupers if you can take a trip there.

Well, locally, the humpback grouper is most prized and I would definitely love to land one myself someday. It is not a realistic choice for a favourite, so I'm going to settle for a coral trout!

You can certainly catch them at a jetty but they're much less common than the orange spotted. In my experience, they usually like to dwell in shallow rocky areas. Whereas the orange spotted, you can find them in any depth of our waters.

Groupers may feed at different times of the day, it's more of the tide you can look out for. I like fishing for groupers during low tide, fishes would then retreat to a lower stretch of rocks. This makes hunting for meal for the grouper a bit easier!

These are common names which can differ depending on where it is used. Scientific names on the other hand, are unique to each species of fish.

I actually prefer Labrador Jetty, before the front segment of the jetty are out of bounds for fishing. It had lots of corals below, perfect for groupers.
