Pretty yellow Goby ID

Hi everyone, this is the third time I’ve caught this Goby species by accident on sabiki. Thought it was a yellow polka dot shrimpgoby at first but later on doubted it cause these have streaks on their cheeks and slender vertical lines on their body rather than dots.

Anyone have any idea what this species is?

I want to say this is a yellow shrimp goby but they have dots instead of those blue stripes. Nice catch but I'm not quite sure of the exact species.

Thanks Peace. That's what I thought too.. perhaps an invasive species hahaha. If my memory isn't failing me I think I've seen them being sold at some marine aquarium shops here before.

I tried keeping one that I caught in my aquarium just to observe it a bit more. noticed it changes to a brownish color with broad white bands at night/when asleep. Maybe a hybrid species?

I am not too sure, perhaps it is stressed or changes its colour to blend with the new environment.

One of my friends caught a pair of these gobies yesterday.
I believe they are Bluespotted Watchman Gobies

I think this is similar to your yellow goby, but the hue on this one is much darker.

This one does look very similar, except for one thing: It has blue dots instead of faint blue stripes along its body. Interesting though. perhaps they're watchman goby hybrids of some sort hahaha..

The blue-spotted watchman gobies are much more common in my experience. often find them in larger sizes than the yellow one too

Finally managed to ID the goby. Turns out its a species of watchman goby ambiguously referred to as the 'lagoon shrimpgoby' (Cryptocentrus cyanotaenia)
