Those pictures are actually of a white lipped eeltail catfish very different from the black eeltail catfish

For marine catfishes, can use chicken liver as bait, instead of prawns? I figure catfishes are not particular connoisseur. I think any type of smelly meat should work for them right?

It'll work but you may be missing out on other species of fish when you use it. Unless, of course you're specifically targeting for them.

How do u tell the difference between black eel tails from white lipped eel tails

Honestly, I'm not quite sure. The difference in catfish species can't often be distinguished from its physical appearance alone.
